Assosa University Holds Peace Conference to Solve Student’s Conflict
The peace conference held on October 22/2011 E.c after the reconciliation ceremony had taken place before one day.
The peace conference celebrated colorfully with the theme of “ሰላማዊየመማርማስተማርለሀገራዊአንድነት” (Peaceful Learning Teaching for solidity).
At this peace conference, ASU Board chair person and members, Amhara and Oromo Democracy Parties Representatives, Federal Government Representatives, Science and Higher Education Minister Representatives as well as Assosa town elders and religion leaders were part of the discussion.
The university delegate President Dr.Haimanot Disassa, mentioned the causes of the conflict and the actions taken to solve the problem; he said the ad hoc committees, which were organized from different stake holders, have been working for more than two weeks to find solution since the conflict happened among the students. The delegate president also stated that, the university is thoroughly working to identify and put solutions that enable the teaching learning environments smoother.
Student participants also asserted that the main cause of the conflict is not attributed to ethnic based, but there are questions demand immediate answer and have to be addressed by university higher official and the university students’ union president. They urge the university to charge the main actors of the problem and take disciplinary measure.

Moreover, Assosa town community participants stress that, university students has to think one step ahead about the consequence of conflict than any ordinary people and should take lion share responsibility to bring peace and security of their university and surrounding community.

The university board chairperson Mr. Rashid Mohammed emphasized the surrounding community is here to be benefited from the university services delivered. This could be realized when the community and the university attachment stronger for sustainable and peaceful teaching learning process.
Finally, blessing and pray for peace and reconciliation was remarked by religion leaders and elders.

በአሶሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ተማሪዎች መካከል ድንገት በተፈጠረዉ ግጭት የእርቅ ሥነ-ሥርዓት በቀን 22/03/2011 ዓ.ም በዩኒቨርሲቲዉ መሰብሰቢያ አዳራሽ ተከናወነ፡፡
የእርቅ ሥነ-ሥርዓቱ ዉይይት ከፊል ገጽታ
የእርቅ ሥነ-ሥርዓቱ በአሶሳና አከባቢዉ የሚገኙ የሀማኖት አባቶችና የሀገር ሽማግሌዎች በተገኙበት በዩኒቨርሲቲዉ መሰብሰቢያ አዳራሽ የተካሄደ ሲሆን በፕሮግራሙ ላይ ሁለቱም ብሔሮች (አማራና ኦሮሞ) ተወካዮች ሲያንጸባርቁ የነበራቸዉ ጥያቄዎችን በማንሳት ተወያይቶበታል፡፡ ግጭቱም የግለሰብ እንጂ ብሔርን የማይወክል መሆኑን በማንሳት ወደፊትም ከንደዚህ አይነት ድርግት ራሳቸዉን ማራቅ እንዳለባቸዉ ተናግረዋል፡፡ ግጭቱም ሰላም የማይፈልጉ ጥቅት ተማሪዎችና የዉጭ አካላት እንጂ እነሱም እንደማይወከል ገልጸዋል፡፡በዩኒቨርሲቲዉ የመልካም አስተዳደር ችግሮችም ለግጭቱ እንደ መንስኤ ያነሱት ተማሪዎቹ ዩኒቨርሲቲዉ ራሱን ከላይ እስከታች መፈተሸ እንዳለበት አሳስቧል፡፡ የተማሪዎች ህብረትም እንደገና ማቋቋም እንደሚያስፈልግ አጽንዖት ሰጥቶ ተናግረዋል፡፡
የእርቅ ሥነ-ሥርዓቱ ቃለ-መሀላ ሲደረግ
የሀይማኖት አባቶችና የሀገር ሽማግሌዎቹ የእርቅ ሥነ-ሥርዓቱ በተከታታይ የሚደረግ መሆኑን አንስቶ ሁሉም ተማሪዎች ለችግሩ መፍትሔ በመሆን ለሰላማችዉ ዘብ መቆም እንዳለባቸዉ አሳስቧል፡፡ የጠፋባቸዉ ንብረቶች ሙሉ በሙሉ ባይሆንም ለመመለስ ወይም ለመተካት የተቻላቸዉን ሁሉ እንደሚያደርጉ ቃል ገብቷል፡፡
To All Assosa University Regular Students,
It is known that the University teaching learning activities has been stopped for over a week due to unnecessary conflict recently raised in the campus between students. On top of this, the University has been taking actions on the issues the students mentioned during the event from the root cause by organizing different taskforces.
Currently, the University has been creating favorable conditions to run its duties and planned to start teaching learning from November24/ 2011 E.C. Therefore, you are kindly requested to present in the University on the deadline mentioned above.
ASSOSA UNIVERSITY HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH ITS STAFF ON THE CURRENT STUDENTS’ CONFILICT
Assosa University academic and administration staff discussed on the current students’ conflict at the University Meeting Hall, November 27/ 2018 G.C.
The discussion was held in the presence of Assosa University Advisory Board chair person Mr. Reshid Mohammed and the representatives of Oromia and Amhara Regional State Government higher officials. Accordingly, the discussion mainly focused on the way the University is returned to its normal condition. On the discussion, the participants raised many issues which might not seen as a significant problem but contributed for the conflict in the University from top management officials to the lower level workers.
The University has prepared action plan to solve the issues one after the other by prioritizing them and going to start its normal teaching- learning duties next Monday, November 24/ 2011 E.C.
